No one is perfect. Everyone is perfectly themselves. Both are true.
When offered first level prenatal testing, my husband and I confirmed with each other that no matter what the results, we would of course have the child as planned.
When one of ours came up out of normal limits, and we were offered more testing, we had the same conversation and the same outcome.
We did NOt do the next test, because it had a small risk to the baby, and would not have changed what we did.
The main reason we did the first test at all was to be ready to make any medical treatment decision needed at the moment of birth. My mom and I will be visiting with her god daughter, who has Down’s syndrome, today. As a retired teacher of special needs students, I can’t imagine my life without the effervescent and challenging personalities of my students, many of whom are my FB friends. Ashlee’s artwork is beautiful! What talent! This makes me really sad. As a teacher that works with students with significant disabilities, I can’t imagine a world without my kiddos.
