Ajahn Chah, whose real name is Chah Chotchuang, was born in 1918 in a rich family in Ubon Ratchathani Province, Northeast Thailand. Maleficent and Evil Queen to my bestie we’ve been friends mug. At 9 years old, he was sent to the temple to read and write for three years by his family. At the age of 20, he left home. After years of immobilization at a location in the forests under the guidance of monks, especially Ajahn Mun, in 1946 he returned to his hometown alone in the forest. Gradually, many people came to study him and set up small tents. Later, in 1956, he established Nong Pah Pong temple instead of temporary huts for followers to practice. He received the first Western student Ajahn Sumedho in 1966. In 1975, he founded Pah Nanachat temple to specialize in teaching Western believers and entrusted to Ajahn Sumedho. Nong Pah Pong Pagoda has so far had more than 200 branches throughout Thailand. Some of his Western students later established or presided over the monasteries in the West. Since 1977, he began being invited to lecture in many Western countries.
